Continuing Education color barUnits

The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), through SPE Professional Development, will award Continuing Education Units (CEU) for participation and completion of SPE short courses, distance learning programs, applied technology workshops, and sanctioned learning activities. One CEU equals 10 contact hours of participation in SPE continuing education activities. A permanent record of a participant's involvement and awarding of CEU will be maintained by SPE. SPE will provide a copy of the participant's record upon request. These CEUs may be used toward the 15 required Professional Development Hours (PDH) in the State of Texas for license renewal by the Texas Board of Professional Engineers.

The sections meetings of the SPE and their Study Group meetings may be used to accumulate PDH (Professional Development Hours). Down load the TP-SPE Spread sheet containing the 2003-2004 meetings list and enter the attended dates to get a form containing your acquired participation Contact Hours. Remember, 10 contact hours of participation equals one CEU.

       Contact Hours 2007-2008

As you are probably aware, the state of Texas passed a new law (as of September 1, 2003) which requires all engineers licensed through the Texas Board of Professional Engineers to complete a designated amount of Professional Development Hours (PDH) per each annual renewal period.

Welcome to the Society of Petroleum Engineers, Trans-Pecos Section Home Page. The Trans-Pecos Section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers is made up of petroleum industry professionals. We meet regularly to discuss subjects relating to the exploration, development, and exploitation of petroleum, natural gas, and other minerals.

One of our main charges is to promote the science of petroleum engineering to those in our society. We also promote petroleum, geological, and physical sciences to the youth, educators, and general public in our jurisdiction through workshops, conferences, lectures, science fairs, and scholarships.

Our jurisdiction covers the Texas counties of Brewster, Crane, Culberson, Jeff Davis, Ector, Loving, Pecos, Presidio, Reeves, Terrell, Ward, and Winkler. This is 30,009 square miles containing some of the most prolific and productive petroleum producing areas in the State of Texas. Just to give you an idea of the size of area we cover, you can add up the areas of Vermont, New Hampshire, New Jersey, 2 - Rhode Islands and we still have over 800 square miles to spare!

We hope you will use this web site to check our activities and give us feedback. If you need any response from us, please go to the Officer's E-Mail Directory and send one of us a message so that we might help or assist you.
