Admission Requirements

Member

1. Employment in the petroleum industry, AND
2. A university degree equivalent to a 4-year Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or basic or applied sciences (if you do not meet the educational requirements, you may still be eligible for Member grade; contact membership@spelink.spe.org for more information), AND
3. At least 6 year's active practice in petroleum engineering or in the application of the sciences to the petroleum industry; your degree may be credited toward active practice as follows -- Bachelors, 2 years; Masters, 3 years, Doctorate, 4 years, AND
4. At least 3 years in a position in which applicant either made or approved recommendations on the basis of analysis of technical data.

Student Member
Students must complete and submit a Student Application. Go to http://www.spe.org to register for membership.

Dues and Fees

Payment of dues is necessary to begin processing your application and to ensure prompt receipt of SPE services, including the monthly Journal of Petroleum Technology, upon acceptance. Annual dues statements are mailed each October. All dues and fees are in U.S. dollars.

Reinstatement
Former members who allowed their membership to lapse may complete an application and either (1) retain their original election date by paying all dues owed during the years lapsed plus current dues and a reinstatement fee, or (2) receive a new election date by paying current dues plus a reinstatement fee. Contact membership@spelink.spe.org for the specific amount due.
