64% Pass 2009 Petroleum PE Exams
NCEES and the State Engineering Boards released the 2009 Professional Engineering Exam results in March. Nationwide, the Petroleum Engineering Exam recorded a 64% pass rate. The Petroleum first time takers passed at an 83% rate. The estimated pass rates of a few other engineering disciplines were:
Chemical 72% Agricultural 80%
Civil 52% Industrial 55%
Electrical 53% Fire Protection 57%
Environm’tal 67% Metallurgical 48%
Mechanical 58% Mining 64%
Structural 47% Control Systems 78%
The Petroleum pass rates in 2009 for a few states:
Alaska 100% Louisiana 0%
California 50% Oklahoma 89%
Colorado 75% Texas 76%
West Virginia 100% Wyoming 100%
What are the requirements to take the Petroleum PE Exam? Today, most states require that you have:
1. An engineering, math or science degree.
2. Passed the Fundamentals, or FE Exam.
3. At least four years of professional experience.
